If I won the lottery (and a twist)!

What would I do if I won the lottery? I know your dying to know. Just like your dying to see all of our old family movies. Lol

Trust me, there’s a little twist and it’s worth reading til the end.

I have no hesitation in saying that I would give back to my parents so they can live their remaining years in comfort. I would help friends and family in need.

And then…I’d give in my favorite way. I would give to pediatric patients and their families directly so they can have some much needed TLC. I’d make sure the kid’s bedrooms are amazing and don’t just look like a hospital. I’d give them the medical supplies not covered through insurance, clothing, toys and have their homes fitted with handicap necessities like ramps and special showers. I would provide them with respite care so parents can take a much needed break. I’d make sure the siblings of special needs children get support and do something to make them feel amazing and important.

And THEN I’d also give to organizations that help homeless animals and rescue and rehabilitate cats and dogs. Because every puppy and kitty needs a human to spoil them. And every domestic animal deserves dignity, good food, shelter, love and respect.

My ultimate dream for myself and my husband would be to live on a rescue farm with a full staff of amazing, fun people where we could do incredible things for animals that would improve their lives. We would never feel like it’s work because we’d be getting so much enjoyment from it.

I invite you to take just a moment to think about what you’d do if you won the lottery.

There’s an important reason I’m asking.

Guess what. You do not need to win the lottery for your dreams to come true. What you give in big and small ways does help. Everything you do can have purpose and be meaningful if you put positive energy, passion and love into it.

You can give from wherever you are financially right now. I currently pick up free items from my community to bring to those in need. Sometimes I buy them small items too. We choose to adopt our pets. I give love to my patients and TLC in the ways I can like bringing them a fun new toy or running with them down the sidewalk while I’m pushing them in their wheelchairs.

If your dream is to help homeless animals you can volunteer at an animal shelter.

If your dream is to travel then travel!

If you want to do something for your parents, just pick up the phone and call them. It could mean more to them than anything.

If you want to write a book then get started!

If you want to be healthier, there’s no better time than now!

You can learn a new language, get a black belt in karate, take a class, graduate, ace an interview, create art, learn an amazing recipe or how to decorate cakes and cookies, become an expert at something, open an Etsy shop, give your time and talent to a good purpose. The list is endless.

Maybe instead of thinking about what to do if we won the lottery we should be making bucket lists of personal goals then getting out there and doing those things.

Maybe instead of wishing for anything we should just start doing and being more appreciative for what we have. I’m working on an upcoming post about self-discipline, confidence and motivation so stay tuned for that if you could use some inspiration.

It really is amazing what one person can do when they set their mind to it. I know that no one except yourself is stopping you from living the life of your dreams. You don’t need to be “lucky” because you can make your own luck. You don’t need to be a millionaire. You just need to start now, do what you love with passion and be patient. In the meantime, enjoy what you’re doing and do it the best you can.

Even if no one reads this blog or this particular post, I still enjoyed writing it. It made me think about how blessed I am. It was a way to self-motivate and inspire myself. If it touches others I’d be thrilled. If not, it still made me happy because I measure my success by how much fun I’m having and how I choose to put love and kindness out into the world.

Learning to enjoy the journey and live in the moment is the only lottery you ever need to win.

Take good care.

May you be happy and well.
